Dice game strategy: how to score more points

A strong game is not just luck. These five principles help you make better decisions across all 13 turns.

1. Build toward the upper bonus

Aim for an average of three dice in each upper category. Protect Fours, Fives and Sixes in particular: strong totals there can offset weak Ones or Twos.

2. Keep dice with several possible outcomes

A high pair can become Three of a Kind, Four of a Kind, Full House or Five of a Kind. A run such as 2-3-4 can complete either straight. Prefer keeps that preserve several scoring routes.

3. Do not chase Five of a Kind at any cost

It is valuable but rare. With only a pair after the second roll, chasing all five matching dice often loses better scores in the upper section or matching categories.

4. Save Chance as a safety net

Chance accepts every roll. Avoid spending it too early on an average total because it can rescue a poor late turn. A total of 24 or more is usually a strong use.

5. Sacrifice the least useful box

When no useful score remains, place zero in a category that has become unlikely. A low upper box or Five of a Kind is often a better sacrifice than a nearly completed straight or Chance.

Strategy questions

What score should I aim for?

Breaking 200 is a good first target. A score above 250 is generally a very strong game, depending on the exact rules.

Should I always keep a pair?

No. A high pair is useful, but a run of three or four values can offer better odds of completing a straight.
